After stealing billions of dollars from investors, the family is holding on to fur coats and wanting to stay in the $7 million penthouse. It is my understanding that the government has given Ruth Madoff $2 million to live on. That is very generous.
I saw a news segment with people who have lost their retirement and life savings. One couple lost $2 million. Another woman has lost her home and is now living in her car. She is on the verge of losing her car. She doesn't know where her next meal will come from or if she will have a place to live. The woman didn't have much to begin with, but now she has nothing left.

As an American, I have witnessed many events in our nation's history. Some of them great like placing a man on the moon. Some of them were dark and shameful events. No matter what happened, it is the people that make this nation great. Each looking to the future with optimism and looking to improve this nation for all. The United States is a great and wonderful nation and her people are her best asset. As Americans, we need to stand together and let our voices be heard.

Senate Bill Would Fine People More Than $1,000 for Refusing Health Care Coverage - Political News - FOXNews.com
Some people will not be able to afford health due to being laid off or the expense. So, what is the government's response? Fine people who can't afford medical insurance. This makes a lot of sense. Know we know how the government is going to fund their health care program. Fine those who can't afford it. Brilliant.

Show Me the Results!
I read that only 7% of the stimulus package money has been spent and most of that money has been spent poorly. According to some analysts, only 25% of the stimulus package money will be spent by the end of the year.
Granted, I'm not one for asking the government to spend money like a drunken sailor. However, this package was sold to the American people as the pill that would solve all of our economic woes. Like drug trials, I think we got the placebo.

Official: N. Korea Fires Third Short-Range Missile - North Korea | Map | Government - FOXNews.com
North Korea test fired their short-range missiles. All this managed to do is escalate an already tense situation. All of the saber-rattling that North Korea has done has put the world on edge. A Japanese newspaper said that North Korea could be ready to test a long-range missile by the 4th of July. Given the past situations, I could honestly see them test firing a missile on the 4th of July in order to thumb their noses at the United States.
As I had mentioned in an earlier blog post, Kim Jong-il wants to have military superiority in the region at all cost even if it means his people going hungry. With the average North Korean person earning an annual income of $900, Kim Jong-il drinks a certain Hennessey cognac that sells for $630 a bottle in Korea. According to those around him, Kim Jong-il purchases between $650,000 and $720,000 and has become Hennessey's best customer. People escaping from the tyranny of North Korea also report that he has 17 palaces. His own people do not know about all of this. If they did, I believe his days as leader would be numbered. However, his military would easily crush his opposition.
I feel for the North Koreans.

California Government Declares Fiscal Emergency Over Budget - ABC News
One of the barbers at the barber shop I use in Cedar Park and his wife used to live in California. They got one of the IOU's from the state for a refund on their state income tax. It is my understanding that California will have a budget gap of $121 billion. OUCH!

Texas Woman Told to Remove 'Offensive' American Flag From Office - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com
I read this article and was upset by it. It saddens me that people are offended by the flag and are ashamed of it. I have talked with veterans who have given so much to this nation about this. They are appalled by this.

Gas Prices Up Again?
When will we learn? I don't understand why gas prices are going up. There hasn't been a major interruption in the flow of oil. If fact, oil stockpiles are higher than they ever were. From where I'm sitting, I see my old friend, Greed, tucking a napkin under his chin and gorging himself.
It seems that investors see the economy improving and want to take advantage of the public once again. Investors see the summer driving season as an excuse to push gas prices up and make a killing off of us. Are we going to stand for it? I say keep conserving and drive down the prices. Until we move forward with a true energy program for our nation, we will suffer more and more at the hands of greed.
As I had said before, I'm not a communist or socialist. I'm believe in free markets, but when people get taken advantage of just for a few more cents per share, I got a serious problem with that. Many Americans are losing their jobs for just a few more cents per share. When gas and diesel prices dropped, did you see the cost of food drop? No, they didn't. They are staying right where they are. As Americans, we have always been able to sacrifice for the good of the nation, but we haven't done that. Why is that? It goes back to that same thing I just mentioned. Companies want a few more cents per share.
