Libya to Use Sharia as Basis for Its Laws

According to Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de facto president, Libya will use Sharia, the Islamic code, as its "basic source".

Although Egypt, under President Hosni Mubarak, used Sharia as its basis for its secular constitution, there are those who fear that Libya will become less western in its method for conducting business and trade.
