President Obama along with the Democratic party raised more than $70 million over the summer. They surpassed their original target of $55 million. However, it was down by $16 million when compared to the previous quarter.
Given the his declining numbers in the polls and the less than stellar economy, this may have caused the drop in campaign contributions. Average contributions to the Obama re-election campaign is about $56.
