Facebook is investigating an unusually high number of incidences of links, images and videos that are either violent or pornographic in nature.
These items, which are in violation of Facebook's Terms of Service, started appearing on Monday. Users of Facebook are upset and have been using Twitter to make their feelings known. Some users have stated that they will quit using Facebook once and for all.
Images of animals being beaten or dead animals have been showing up on pages as well as pornographic images of Justin Bieber in compromising situations. Images and videos of self-mutilation and bestiality have also appeared.
Why is this occurring? At this point, it is not clear why this is happening. Some experts believe that a malicious computer virus may be at the heart of this. Other theorize that "clickjacking" may be to blame.
For user, it does not matter what is causing it. Facebook users are reacting and some will quit Facebook altogether.
